Padmaavat is a historic film for our country, Ranveer Singh on Movie’s 300 Cr Mark

Actor Ranveer Singh is on cloud nine with “Padmaavat,” so is the dimpled beauty Deepika Padukone after returning from the Tinsel Town.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s third movie together, also with ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has struck platinum by making entry to the influential Rs. 300 crore club.

The movie gathered Rs. 300 crore in the country on March 16 and become the seventh movie to hit the much coveted mark.

Ranveer Singh has not only bagged far-fetched commendation for his character of the cruel Alauddin Khilji but has bagged his first ever 300-plus crore runaway success.

Homing instantly into the 300 crore club, which has thus far been the fiefdom completely of Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, he is the only young star to register this gigantic achievement.

The release of the flick was contested by a number of Rajput groups and it did not gain entry in two Indian states. In spite of all odds, the movie benefitted from a 50-day run at the ticket booth.

“It is a film that is and will always be extremely close to my heart and with it becoming my first ever Rs. 300 crore film, the memory of ‘Padmaavat’ will be that much more special,” Ranveer told media people.

“Padmaavat” is a historic film for our country. I’m overwhelmed and extremely happy that the film has received this much love from audiences not just in India, but also the world over,” he added up.

Ranveer showcased appreciation towards director Bhansali for his vision, and for giving him a character.

He told media people, “This success is for all of us to cherish and remember that as artistes, we need to stand by our vision, our craft.”

In a special media release, Singh added, “‘Padmaavat’ is a film that is and will always be extremely close to my heart, and with it becoming my first ever 300 crore film, the memory will be that much more special. I would like to thank Sanjay sir for his vision for the film and for Khilji, a character that will forever glow in my body of work. I congratulate the entire cast and crew for having poured their souls into making this film. This success is for all of us to cherish and remember that as artistes, we need to stand by our vision, our craft.”
