Mentally challenged boy died as Chaman for Hindus and Rizwan for Muslims

Beauty lies in our hearts. Despite all the facts that lie between two nations India, and Pakistan, these two families one the Hindu and other Pakistani proves that it all depends on the person whether to live in harmony-peace or not.

We learned of yet another example of the two communities coming together on 23 March.

According to the media, a 24-year-old mentally challenged man from Moradabad recently passed away and his last rites were conducted according to both Hindu and Muslim customs.

It sounds odd but this all happened when a boy called Chaman went missing from home in February 2009. In December that year, his mother reportedly found him near a mosque. When she tried to take him back though, a Muslim Subhan Alam stopped her, claiming that the boy was his younger brother Rizwan Alam.

Chaman’s mother told media that he is mentally challenged boy. His family took care of him at their best but he went iller as he grown up.

Since neither of the families could provide any proof of him being related to them, the local police decided to make both families the guardian of the boy. From that day, the boy became Chaman for Hindus and Rizwan for Muslims.

Subhan Alam, Rizwan’s (Chaman) brother said there were no restrictions on him as he moves freely to any family. Jwala who said Chaman is her 2nd child told media that it was awkward at first but as the time passes both the families came close to taking care of Chaman Aka Rizwan.

Now that both the families are so close to the boy, it came as no wonder hence that both communities came together for his death as well. A maulana and a pandit recited verses from the Quran and Bhagwad Gita respectively for the cremation.

It can happen only in India where these families proved, “We can live in harmony at our own”. The boy may have been mentally challenged, but he leaves this world having done his part.
