Salman Khan drops Arijit’s song from Welcome to New York? Producer says singer never recorded for the film

Well we all remember how Salman made Rahat Fateh Ali Khan re-record a new version of Jag Ghoomeya song, which was originally sung by Arijit Singh in his superhit film, Sultan. Well, looks like the actor is still miffed with the singer as he seemed to have done it again. Well, the cold war between singer Arijit Singh and Salman Khan is not over yet.

According to reports, Salman once again replaced one of Arijit’s songs from the upcoming multi-starrer film, Welcome To New York, with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s version of the same.

But producer Vashu Bhagnani has rubbished rumours of Arijit’s version being dropped from Welcome To New York. In an interview to The Indian Express, Bhagnani said that Arijit never sang any song for his film.

“I saw all this on TV and online and was so confused as to what was happening. Arijit Singh never sang for Welcome to New York in any capacity and this can be checked. He never sang a scratch either,” he told the daily.

“Shamir (Tandon), the composer of the song and I were interested in a certain texture of voice and Rahat suited it perfectly. So we asked him. If Arijit didn’t sing, how can anyone remove his voice?” he added.

Rubbishing Salman’s involvement in finalising the singer for the song, a source clarified, “One needs to get this right that Welcome To New York is not Salman’s film. He just has one special appearance in the film so why will he even get into the music space? He himself is surprised after reading these basless reports. Maybe Arijit could have lost out on the song because of his own monetary differences with the producers. After all, it’s the producers who take the final call.”

For the uninitiated, Arijit got onto Salman’s wrong side, when during an awards function, Arijit tried to pull Salman’s leg who was hosting it by saying, “Kya sir sula diya aapne?”. The singer’s statement didn’t go down quite well with the superstar, who then dropped his song from Sultan.

In May 2015, the singer posted an apology letter on Facebook, appealing to Salman to forgive him and let his song remain in the film. But his apology fell on deaf ears, and Sultan was released with Rahat’s version of the song.
