While Irrfan Khan will continue to play his role as Raj Batra, a Delhi based businessman who wants his daughter to get best English medium school, many characters will no longer be a part of the film. Saba Qamar (Irrfan Khan’s wife), who played another lead role in Hindi Medium will not be seen in the sequel.

Saba had initially expressed her desire to be a part of the sequel. She had said, “After the massive success of Hindi Medium, the producers are all set for a sequel. I hope Irrfan and I get to work in the second instalment of the blockbuster.”

Apart from Saba, Dishita Sehgal (Irrfan and Saba’s daughter) and the director Saket Chaudhary also won’t be a part of the film.

According to a source, “The story flash-forwards by a decade so five-year-old Pia will be in her teens now, around 15-16 year old. The story will be a fresh take on the Indian educational system with little reference to the original. Also, Director Saket Chaudhary won’t be a part of this sequel”.

We loved the original and are even more excited for the sequel. The release date and an official announcement are still awaited.
