Revealed: Here’s The Reason Why SRK Turned Down Roles Of Ranveer And Shahid In Padmaavat

Padmaavat was initially titled as Padmavati and was slated to release on December 1, 2017. But due to constant protest by Rajput groups and ban by various state governments, the movie was pushed to January 25 and was titled as Padmaavat.

The movie has finally released and has collected Rs. 19 crore on the first day at the Box-Office. The film is getting positive reviews from the audience as well as from critics. Many may not know that SLB had planned to make the movie even bigger by casting SRK in lead with Deepika.

Shah Rukh Khan was approached for the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh but SRK refused the role as he said that the film revolved around the characters of the other two. After knowing the reason behind his rejection, Bhansali offered the role of Khilji to SRK, which he refused as well as he was already facing much backlash for Raees’ negative character. King Khan was apparently afraid that the role of Khilji might cause more trouble.

Prior to this, Bhansali had considered Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for lead roles in Padmaavat. While Salman was willing, Aishwarya agreed, on the condition that she wouldn’t have to share screen space with Salman but Salman did not agree to this. Finally, SLB dropped that idea too and at last offered film to Ranveer, Shahid, and Deepika.

The film finally stared Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Allaudin Khilji.
